How to Turn On/Off the New Sensitive Content Controls on Instagram

Instagram

Instagram has updated its Explore feed to limit the amount of sensitive content that it displays. Continue reading to find out how to disable the sensitive content control, which may limit the types of content you can see in the app.

In its content discovery hub, Instagram is giving users a little more control over what they see and don’t see. The company introduced a new sensitive content control that allows anyone to screen posts they believe are potentially objectionable and hide them from the Explore tab.

Users can choose to allow more content that could be “upsetting or offensive,” limit that content, or “limit even more” with the new feature, which appears in the settings menu. Instagram quietly launched sensitive content control this week, which limits the amount of “sensitive content” that appears on your Explore page. Sensitive content is categorized as “pictures and videos that may be unpleasant or objectionable” in the app. Content that may be sexually provocative or violent” and “content that may be about drugs or firearms” are two examples given by Instagram.

It’s unclear what content is being restricted at this time. Still, users, particularly those who use Instagram to display their artwork, are anxious that their content and feeds might get regulated. Every Instagram profile was automatically placed on “Limit” after the upgrade, though there are choices to limit even more content or none at all.

Here’s how to turn on/off Instagram’s new sensitive content control

Below we have mentioned the steps to disable Instagram’s new sensitive content control.

  1. Open Instagram, and log in if you’re not already.
  2. Then, when you go to your homepage, press on your profile at the bottom right, and you’ll be redirected to your profile page. And at this point, click on the three lines at the top-right of the screen.
  3. Now, you will see a list of options pop up, but we just want to press on settings at the top of the list, and you will be taken to a setting page, and now you need to locate an account. Then, tap on that.
  4. Then, you need to look down this list until you see sensitive content control.
  5. So, if you tap the allow option, this message comes up that will be asking if you’re sure, and allow means that you will be exposed to sensitive content, and the sensitive content filter will be turned off, so if you want to do that just press ok.
  6. And if you’re not able to turn this setting on, that means that you have set your age to under 18’s and cannot change this setting to allow then the limit option is the default setting, and with this enabled, you still might see some sensitive content that you maybe wouldn’t want to see.
  7. But there will still be some sensitive content blocks in place, and if you enable limit, even more, this crackdown on sensitive content that you will see going forward, but that’s how you turn on and off the new sensitive content controls on Instagram.
